The Irish Sangha Trust (IST) was established in 2011 to support and foster teaching and meditation practice in the Theravada Buddhist tradition in Ireland. The Irish Sangha Trust is non-profit Buddhist organization, entirely dependent on the generosity of the public for voluntary donations.
Our annual schedule includes regular workshops, retreats and meditation sittings. Events are open to everyone from beginners to experienced practitioners. We welcome you to join our spiritual friends network and experience the profound benefits of meditation practice.
2-day Meditation Retreat with Dr. Shiro Bandara from London, UK
Saturday, February 7th - Sunday, February 8th, 2015
The Noble Eightfold Path consists of 3 parts: Ethics (Sila), Concentration (Samadhi) and Wisdom (Panna). These three are the cardinal practices which when carefully and fully cultivated raise the practitioner from lower to higher states of mind, lead from darkness to light, from passion to dispassion, from turmoil to tranquillity. These three are integral parts of the Path, they are interdependent and inseparable. In essence they are one integrated training, which is seen in three aspects.
This retreat is suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
Retreat includes practice of sitting, walking and standing meditation (both guided and non-guided), mindfulness, Dhamma talks which cover many aspects of the Threefold training as well as elements of vipassana (practice of insight), Dhamma discussions and personal guidance.
This retreat is the second one in series of retreats led by Dr. Shiro Bandara from London, UK. Series consists of 6 2-day non-residential retreats continuing through the first half of 2015 at Irish Sangha Trust (Ranelagh, Dublin 6).
