The Irish Sangha Trust (IST) was established in 2011 to support and foster teaching and meditation practice in the Theravada Buddhist tradition in Ireland. The Irish Sangha Trust is non-profit Buddhist organization, entirely dependent on the generosity of the public for voluntary donations.

Our annual schedule includes regular workshops, retreats and meditation sittings. Events are open to everyone from beginners to experienced practitioners. We welcome you to join our spiritual friends network and experience the profound benefits of meditation practice.

Ajahn Buddharakkhita will lead the Friday Sit on March the 15th

Friday, March 15th 2019, 19:30

We are delighted to inform you that our Friday sit on March the 8th will be led by an invited teacher, Ajahn Buddharakkhita.

We are delighted to welcome Ajahn Buddharakkhita back to IST. Ajahn has taught a number of retreats for IST in the past and we benefited from his teachings in many Fridays when he was staying in Dublin in 2016. He is a very experienced monk and meditation teacher. He has practiced extensively in lay life as well as a full-time yogi prior to first robing in 2006. He completed 5 years monastic training under Ajahn Brahm and has practiced many years under numerous Asian masters, Sayadaws U Pandita, U Kundala, U Tejaniya & Ven Dhammajiva. He is skillful in making the Buddha's teachings easy to understand, applicable in one's daily life and go straight to the heart. He has been teaching a range of samatha & vipassana meditations on numerous retreats in Australia, Singapore.

Venue: AppleTree, Ranelagh, Dublin 6. See map and directions here. At the door press bell marked "Appletree Top". Please do not come too early as usually there is no one there to open the door until 19:20.

The schedule consists of a guided meditation (~40min) followed by a Dhamma talk by the invited teacher.

This session is for the sake of cultivating spiritual friendship amongst practitioners and supporting each other on the Path.

There is no registration - this event operates on a drop-in basis.

There is no charge, donations are welcome to cover the place.

Please bring a bottle of water along as there will be no tea/snack breaks to allow more time for practice. You may wish to bring a blanket if it is cold. Meditation cushions/chairs will be provided. Please let us know if you have any queries by email infoirishsanghatrust.ie.
